Public Notice of Retirement and Possible Re-employment of Executive Director

On November 18, 2021, at the recommendation of the Personnel Committee, the OVRDC Executive Committee motioned and approved to proceed with the necessary requirements to rehire John Hemmings as Executive Director on June 1, 2022, pending Mr. Hemmings’ retirement effective April 1, 2022.

Mr. John Hemmings, OVRDC Executive Director, has informed the Executive Committee that he has submitted his paperwork to the Ohio Public Employees’ Retirement System and his effective retirement date will be April 1, 2022.

Ohio Revised Code Section 145.381 (B)(1) states “Not less than sixty days before the employment as a reemployed retirant is to begin, give public notice that the person is or will be retired and is seeking employment with the public employer.”

In compliance with this, OVRDC is making public notice today, March 18, 2022, at its Full Commission meeting that John Hemmings will be retired on April 1, 2022, and is seeking reemployment with OVRDC starting June 1, 2022. This public notice is given in excess of 60 days prior to the potential rehire date of June 1, 2022.

Ohio Revised Code Section 145.381 (B)(2) states “Between fifteen and thirty days before the employment as a reemployed retirant is to begin and after complying with division (B)(1) of this section, hold a public meeting on the issue of the person being employed by the public employer.”

In compliance with this, OVRDC will hold a public meeting on May 5, 2022, at 1:00 pm at the OVRDC office, 73 Progress Drive, Waverly, Ohio 45690 regarding reemployment of John Hemmings as Executive Director at OVRDC. Details of the public meeting will be posted on the OVRDC website www.ovrdc.org.
