Appalachian Regional Commission and Ohio Department of Development Hosts Training in OVRDC Region
The Ohio Department of Development, Governor’s Office of Appalachia, and Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) hosted an ARC Area Development Training to provide guidance and technical assistance to communities, organizations, and partners interested in pursuing funding through the Area Development program.
The training brought together local governments, nonprofits, educational institutions, and community stakeholders from across the OVRDC and Buckeye Hills Regional Council regions to learn more about the program’s goals, eligibility requirements, and application process. Representatives from ARC, the Governor’s Office of Appalachia, and Local Development District staff shared valuable insights on developing competitive projects and aligning proposals with regional priorities.

Topics covered during the training included an Area Development program overview, eligible project activities and funding priorities, application timelines and submission requirements, project readiness and documentation, and tips for strengthening applications. Attendees also had the opportunity to ask questions, discuss project ideas, and connect with funding and technical assistance partners. The slide deck will be made available on the OVRDC website as soon as they are made available.
OVRDC appreciates the strong turnout and engagement from participants throughout our region. The interest and collaboration demonstrated during the training reflect the continued commitment to advancing economic development, infrastructure, workforce, and community improvement projects across Appalachian Ohio.
As a reminder, the OVRDC pre-application deadline for the ARC Area Development Program has been extended to May 29, 2026, to allow applicants additional time following the training.
