Join OVRDC as we host our first Mapathon, where we will collaborate to map our own communities in OpenStreetMap (OSM). This free to use and open license map of the world is used by many everyday-apps and first responders, such as the Red Cross, to access volunteered geographic information. We will cover the basics of OSM, talk about use cases, and do some “armchair mapping” where we will work with maps of local communities. This Mapathon will help provide valuable information for users of OSM data, including everyone from federal agencies to individual disaster response teams.
Time:The Mapathon will be Tuesday, August 9th from 1:00-3:00pm but we encourage you to stay after if you want to continue mapping!
Location: Portsmouth Public Library – Computer Training Lab located at 1220 Gallia St, Portsmouth, OH 45662.
*There will be computer terminals available but you can bring your own laptop to work on.
