2nd Congressional District Representative Dave Taylor Visits OVRDC
Congressman Dave Taylor of Ohio’s 2nd District stopped by the OVRDC Office today while visiting businesses, community members and service organizations located in the district. The 2nd District is made up of 16 counties in southern Ohio, and spans a geographic region covering a total area of approximately 7,383.4 square miles, based on 2023 Census American Community Survey estimates, which is about 19% of the entire state. With its blend of manufacturing, retail, healthcare, and service jobs, the district reflects many of the broader trends shaping Ohio’s economy—particularly a strong manufacturing base and growth in arts, healthcare, and professional services.
”We appreciate Congressman Taylor’s boots-on-the-ground approach and his willingness to actively engage with regional partners,” said Stephanie Gilbert, OVRDC Executive Director.
While at OVRDC, staff shared information on state and federal funding priorities and programs we assist local communities with, including Appalachian Regional Commission projects, Economic Development Administration applications, Department of Transportation and rural transportation priorities, Ohio Public Works Commission, broadband technical assistance and other areas of focus.
The round table discussion with Congressman Taylor led into the role of OVRDC as a Local Development District is a planning commission made up of members from all 12 counties we serve. Our goal is to add capacity, provide organizational support, and serve the needs of our local governments who ultimately determine regional priorities and who have historically demonstrated collaboration and cooperation for the betterment of our region.
Special thanks to Congressman Taylor and Teresa Lewis, Regional Director for Congressman Taylor, for their engagement and service to the region.
