District 15 Receives More Than $15 Million for Local Infrastructure Improvements Through Ohio Public Works Commission

WAVERLY, Ohio — Communities across the Ohio Valley Regional Development Commission (OVRDC) District 15 will benefit from more than $15 million in infrastructure investments following the Ohio Public Works Commission‘s (OPWC) release of project agreements for its latest annual funding round.

District 15, which includes the counties of Adams, Brown, Fayette, Gallia, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross, Scioto, and Vinton, received a total of $15,074,037 through four OPWC funding programs that support critical local infrastructure improvements:

  • State Capital Improvement Program (SCIP): $8,114,591
  • Local Transportation Improvement Program (LTIP): $2,966,338
  • Revolving Loan Program (RLP): $1,984,656
  • Small Government Program: $2,008,452

These investments will support a variety of infrastructure projects throughout the region, including improvements to roads, bridges, water systems, wastewater infrastructure, and other essential public facilities that enhance safety, reliability, and quality of life for residents.

“Reliable infrastructure is the foundation of strong communities,” said Kim Reynolds, District 15 Liaison for the Ohio Public Works Commission. “We’re proud to partner with our communities to ensure these resources are directed toward projects that will have a lasting impact.”

The Ohio Public Works Commission’s infrastructure programs provide critical financial assistance to local governments for projects that preserve and improve Ohio’s public infrastructure. Projects are evaluated and recommended by the state’s 19 district integrating committees based on factors such as public health and safety, infrastructure condition, and community need.

The Small Government Program provides additional funding opportunities for communities with populations of 5,000 or fewer, ensuring that Ohio’s rural villages and townships have access to the resources needed to address vital infrastructure improvements that might otherwise go unfunded.

As the designated liaison organization for OPWC District 15, the Ohio Valley Regional Development Commission coordinates the district’s project selection process and works closely with local governments to prioritize infrastructure investments that strengthen communities throughout the region.

The funding awarded through this round will help communities address aging infrastructure, improve transportation networks, and support long-term economic growth across the OVRDC service area.

Round 41 of Ohio Public Works Commission funding is now open! Interested local governments are encouraged to begin planning and developing applications for eligible projects. District 15 liaison, Kim Reynolds, is available to answer questions and assist communities through project eligibility, timelines, and program requirements.
