OVRDC’s ANNUAL APPRECIATION BANQUET

 

Ohio Valley Regional Development Commission held their Annual Full Commission Appreciation Banquet and Meeting August 18th in the Micklethwaite Banquet Room of Shawnee State University.  OVRDC is governed by a Full Commission of 163 officials,  including representatives of county and local governments, social service and educational organizations, the minority community and the private sector. 

OVRDC is a public regional planning commission that coordinates federal, state, and local resources to encourage community and economic development in twelve southern Ohio counties:  Adams, Brown, Clermont Fayette, Gallia, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross, Scioto and Vinton.  The OVRDC Executive Committee is comprised of representatives from all twelve OVRDC counties; the cities of Portsmouth and Chillicothe; and the business/education/minority community.

 Representative Dave Daniels (86th District), was the featured speaker for the evening with opening remarks given by Rita Rice-Morris, President of Shawnee State University and Mike Crabtree, Scioto County Commissioner. Jim Kalb, Mayor of Portsmouth led the Pledge of Allegiance, and  local award winning musician Steve Free provided the evening’s entertainment.

The 2005 Outstanding OVRDC Executive Committee member Award was presented to Roger Rhonemus, Adams County Commissioner.  The Recipient of the Outstanding OVRDC Full Commission Member Award was Ted Perroud, Mayor of Centerville, Gallia County and the Area Leadership Award was presented to Senator Tom Niehaus, 14th District.
