Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS)

What is the CEDS?

The U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration (EDA) regulations require OVRDC to develop a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) every 3 years. During 2006, Ohio Valley Regional Development Commission began the process to develop a CEDS (Strategy) Committee compliant with EDA’s Final Regulation regarding private sector representation, as well as representation of labor, chamber of commerce, workforce development boards, and post-secondary education.

2007 CEDS Committee

The new CEDS Committee will assist OVRDC staff in completing the CEDS Performance Reports in 2007 and 2008 that will identify measures of performance related to the short-term strategies identified in the 2006 CEDS as well as priority projects for possible EDA investment consideration. Furthermore, OVRDC staff, in conjunction with the CEDS Committee, will develop OVRDC’s Comprehensive Update of the CEDS in 2009.  This Comprehensive Update of the CEDS in 2009 will include long-term goals for the region and short-term strategies that will work toward achieving those goals.
